Our mission is to inspire leaders and help teams perform so that millions of people become engaged in their work. The fact that 85% of the world’s working population is disengaged (Gallup) disturbs us – and we want to do something about it. While the work of the SupportingLines Institute directly impacts our mission, our community and charitable work is a critical part of how we operate and who we are. There are several ways that we contribute to our community.
The SupportingLines Foundation supports community initiatives that help people grow and promote employee engagement, both now and in the future.
It is hard to think about career growth or being engaged at work when your family is not safe or you do not have enough to eat. When these fundamental needs are met people can shift at least some of their focus to personal development and advancing their career.
We also believe in youth leadership initiatives that help raise a generation of leaders who see the true test of leadership as “did people grow?” (Robert Greenleaf, The Leader as Servant). We want our youth to understand that organizations have the ability to profoundly benefit the world, not just generate revenue.
We will partner with community programs to help create the conditions for engagement and support youth leadership initiatives. We will publish more on this in the future and are in active fundraising mode. If you would like to support our efforts, please donate today.
The SupportingLines Institute has committed to the Pledge 1% program. We will be pledging 1% of our equity, employee time and revenue. The 1% revenue pledge is significant as most companies pledge 1% of their bottom line, not their top line. All contributions will benefit the SupportingLines Foundation and its partner charities.
B Corp Certification.
We are committed to pursuing our B Corp certification in 2019. When we established SupportingLines, we created a social enterprise with the required articles of incorporation for a Canadian benefit corporation. The next step is to complete the B Corp certification process.
If you are not familiar with B Corps, they are “businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corps are accelerating a global culture shift to redefine success in business and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy” (B Lab). Check back here for updates on our progress as we pursue our B Corp Certification.
Community yoga classes
We offer regular community yoga classes to help people establish a personal spiritual practice. Why yoga, you may ask? It has been proven that yoga and meditation cultivate many of the core attributes of great leaders: focus, empathy and resilience.
The highest level of leadership is seldom, if ever achieved without a long term spiritual practice.
— Bob Anderson, Founder of the Leadership Circle.
While yoga is not required to become a better leader, growing as a leader requires you to grow as a person. Personal transformation can be very difficult and a yoga or meditation practice can support you on that journey. Plus, our community offering is free so you have nothing to lose! Maybe this is the year you try your first class or take your practice to the next level.
Join us Fridays at 7:45am in downtown Vancouver for Community Yoga with SupportingLines & Mobify. We offer a free, approachable yoga class each Friday morning in the Mobify office at 725 Granville Street. You do need to register ahead of time if you are not a Mobify employee. Please contact us to learn more.
